Tracking Colour

Ancient sculptures were originally full of life and vibrant colors—a phenomenon known as polychromy. Our bachelor project, Tracking Colour, bridges the gap between science and sensuality. The project is divided into three core parts: an update of Tracking Colour's visual identity, the development of a new website acting as the project's knowledge base, and an interactive exhibition.

At the heart of the exhibition is a completely screen-free experience, where we use TouchDesigner and projection mapping to make the research tactile.

Together, these elements create a cohesive identity where the analog and the digital meet to retell the story of the colors of antiquity.

By transforming the static museum visitor into an active participant who excavates history firsthand, we do not just want to display history; we want the audience to feel it and take ownership of the colors that originally belonged to the statues.

When interacting with the statue, the user's movements act as a scraping tool that peels away the white marble layer, gradually revealing the original pigments underneath.
